'Ruben Neves Watched Birth Of His Child On FaceTime So He Didn't Miss Wolves Games

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has revealed he watched the birth of his child on FaceTime at the weekend.

It all happened after the club's 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace on Saturday, where an Eberechi Eze goal sealed all three points for Roy Hodgson's men.

The 23-year-old was sat on a coach on the way back from London when he received a call from his wife, Debora, who was giving birth to their third child in Portugal.

Neves couldn't attend the birth because of the coronavirus pandemic and its obvious restrictions, so he watched the emotional moment via FaceTime instead.

He opened up about the moment after Wolves' 2-1 win against Arsenal on Tuesday night; a game in which the Portuguese midfielder scored a penalty to seal all three points.

The centre-midfielder also spoke about how he didn't want to miss any games because of those travel restrictions.

"Yeah, I watched it on my phone on the coach when we were coming back from Crystal Palace." Neves told WolvesTV after the club's 2-1 victory.

"It's not easy to be honest, it's really hard. It's really hard to not be there for an amazing moment for my family.

"Of course I wanted to be there but that's the world we live in at the moment. So we need to get used to it. We need to do everything we can to solve things because we are in big problems."

Neves continued, saying: "My wife went to Portugal because her doctor is from there. She had problems with our first baby so we always want to go with the same doctor.

"So that's why it was our decision to have the baby in Portugal.

"I thought from that time I would be able to go but apparently I needed to stay here because if I go I will need to stay out of two or three games when I come back. It's my job so I prefer to stay here.

"I give all the support I can to my family from here. And I know they will soon be here with me."

In a post on Instagram shortly after the birth of his child, Neves wrote: "Incredible feeling. This time in a different way due to everything we are going through, but equally special and unforgettable.

"Our Mateo is out there and I want to hug you my love, once again, thank you. Thank you for being a fantastic woman, thank you for agreeing to share this with me, thank you for making our dreams come true.

"What pride I have in you ..time passes quickly, I can't wait to be with the four loves of my life."
