Carlo Ancelotti's Everton side walked away from Anfield with all three points in Saturday's Merseyside Derby after a 2-0 win, but a penalty decision in the 83rd minute has left plenty of Liverpool fans furious.
In the final minutes of the game, Everton broke away on the counter-attack when striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin was through on goal after a perfectly-weighted through ball from Richarlison.
The England international was denied by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson with his first attempt but the Brazilian handed him a second bite of the cherry after parrying it into his path.
Before Calvert-Lewin could take a shot, however, Trent Alexander-Arnold appeared to trip the forward over by accident.
"I'm not sure what he's supposed to do!?" said Sky Sports commentator Jamie Carragher.
Do you agree? Do you think it should have been a penalty?

Everton midfielder Gylfi Sigurðsson slotted away to make it 2-0 as The Toffees edged towards a huge three points at Anfield.
The penalty decision, meanwhile, was met with a mixed response from fans on social media.
Someone help me out here. Calvert-Lewin has the chance of a tap in. Alexander-Arnold accidentally / unluckily stopped him from doing that. Surely it’s penalty, then? I don’t see the controversy?

Understand the debate on whether or not that’s a penalty, but DCL 100% scores if Trent isn’t on the floor stopping him. It’s unfortunate but it’s literally denied a goal.

Ref got it spot on IMO. And fair play to him for sticking to his decision. Only needed to see it once.

*penalty Everton*
😂😂😂😂😂 Honestly it's genuinely hilarious. I don't even mean hilariously bad. It actually makes me piss when I read it back in my head. What a decision man 😂
Calvert Lewin falls into Trent and decides to fall down when he sees him there and that the chance has gone. How on earth is that a penalty?

So why was TAA not sent off?

Can someone explain to me the difference between David Luiz being sent off because he denied a goal scoring opportunity without trying to play the ball.
Trent has done the exact same thing. It’s a penalty, but based on David Luiz red, why not that?
