Leicester 'ready to rival Arsenal & Liverpool in pursuit of Brighton midfielder'

Leicester are reportedly ready to rival Arsenal and Liverpool for highly-rated Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma.

The 24-year-old Mali international has impressed many this season after joining the Seagulls from Ligue 1 side Lille in 2018.

Liverpool and Arsenal have both previously been linked with summer-moves for Bissouma, as they look to strengthen their midfield.

Now the Daily Mirror have reported that Leicester are ready to go up against their Premier League rivals for the Brighton star.

Leicester currently sit third in the Premier League standings and look most likely to qualify for the Champions League out of the three teams, with Liverpool in sixth and Arsenal tenth.

Brendan Rodgers hopes the 'dangling carrot' of Champions League football would be enough to convince Bissouma to join the Foxes ahead of any of their Premier League rivals.

The Leicester manager is keen to play Bissouma next to Wilfred Ndidi in what would be a strong and reliable midfield partnership.

Liverpool sit five points off the Champions League places, but could also qualify for next year's competition if they win the trophy this season.

The reigning Premier League champions see Bissouma as a possible replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum who is currently set to leave the club this summer at the end of his contract.

It's reported that Bissouma's agent has confirmed interest from the Gunners, with Mikel Arteta keen to pair him with Thomas Partey.

Arsenal are very unlikely to play Champions League football next season as they sit 12 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

One potential pull for the Gunners though is that Bissouma is a boyhood Arsenal fan, meaning a move to the north London club could still appeal the midfielder.

Bissouma has made 86 appearances since his £15m move from Lille in 2018, scoring four goals.
