Orlando Pirates have confirmed they will be without midfielder Thabang Monare when they host Bloemfontein Celtic in a DStv Premiership clash at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday.
The Buccaneers will miss the services of the tough-tackling midfielder, who picked up a fourth yellow card of the season in the 3-1 Nedbank Cup victory over Maritzburg United on Saturday.
One of those cards came in the MTN8 final as Pirates beat Celtic 2-1 in December.
Monare has featured in 18 games for Pirates this season and become a key cog under coach Josef Zinnbauer. His absence could mean a rare start for Nkanyiso Zungu.
If Pirates claim victory over Celtic they could move into third in the DStv Premiership, four points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, though they will have played three games more.
The Buccaneers stretched their unbeaten run to six games with that victory over Maritzburg and will now face either Sundowns or Polokwane City in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup.
