Manchester United fans are praising Harry Maguire for his part in getting the club to back out of the European Super League and for his work as the club captain.
It's been a tough few years for Maguire ever since he moved to Old Trafford from Leicester City in August 2019 for £80 million, and became the world's most expensive ever defender.
That title has weighed heavy on him at times and every mistake he's made, and there have been a few, has been scrutinised more than it would be without the huge price tag.
Earlier this season his status as United's captain was being questioned on a regular basis and as recently as February one former player claimed the 28-year-old 'isn't a leader.'
He was praised for being vocal in the teams win over Manchester City in March and now it seems the tide is turning for him.
On Tuesday it was reported that Maguire confronted Ed Woodward over the players displeasure at the plans for the Super League and how the manager was thrown under the bus to face the media with no knowledge of the plans.
Further reports claimed that the former Hull City defender threatened the club executive that the players would take 'unprecedented action' if the club didn't withdraw from the competition and now fans are lavishing him with praise for all his work on and off the pitch.
Harry Maguire runs a food parcel network and a campaign against mental health and obesity, co-founded the NHS PlayersTogether fundraiser, hasn’t put a foot wrong in months, stood up to the Super League and has now forced Ed Woodward into resignation. That’s my fucking captain.

There’s more to being a captain than throwing strops under the guise of passion and screaming of 90 minutes. Maguire does incredible work on and off the pitch and if the Glazers follow Woodward out, he will have played a big role in saving this football club from a dictatorship.

Now lads, I think it's time to put aside the negative agenda towards our captain, big Harry Maguire 💪🏻 pic.twitter.com/rktjNrMORD

This is how captains should defend the club and the fans

Harry Maguire is one of the main reasons that Ed Woodward resigned from his position as CEO of Manchester United.

In my eyes he’s now a legend of the club and no abuse towards him will be tolerated.
MY CAPTAIN. pic.twitter.com/FnN0ATa2UD
He never should have been questioned in the first place, but never again should Harry Maguire's captaincy be questioned. He has led from the front and stood up to our owners and Woodward to do what is right. He's our captain, and he deserves respect.

NONE of this is surprising or out of character. Harry's always been a good captain for us regardless of the silly narratives. There have been far too many lies against him. He acted like a captain in this, yes, but more importantly, he acted like Harry Maguire.

Well done, cap! https://t.co/tfht5NBnWF pic.twitter.com/zCI9yIVRwl
It was quite clear from early on that players of all clubs, and managers, were against the Super League, even the ones that would have been in it.
Bruno Fernandes was the first player from one of the Premier League's 'big six' to confront the competition on social media on Monday.
James Milner got the chance to speak up following Liverpool's 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Monday evening and said he hoped it wouldn't go ahead.
On Tuesday night the whole thing came crumbling down as every single one of the six English clubs backed out.
