''Pro Evo Names For Premier League's Big Six' Hilariously Suggested As Punishment For European Super League Plans

John McGinn has produced one of the greatest tweets of all-time in response to the European Super League (ESL).

12 clubs - including Premier League's 'big six' - have agreed to join a new European competition to the dismay of fans and critics.

The likes of Manchester United and Liverpool released statements on Sunday, outlining their plans to join the ESL.

Respective governments are thought to be drawing up consequences for clubs if they go ahead with the idea.

But Aston Villa's McGinn has come up with the most appropriate punishment.

He's hilariously suggested the teams involved change their names to Pro Evolution Soccer names until the end of the season.

So, we're looking at Man Blue and Merseyside Red, among others.

He tweeted: "Pro evolution names til the end of the season for them. Man Blue v Merseyside Red."

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan, along with the aforementioned English clubs, are classed as the founding fathers of the breakaway tournament.

The proposed seismic move for European football has been condemned by the football community with United legend Gary Neville leading the protestation.

He called for points deductions for the teams involved in a furious rant.

"Deduct them all points tomorrow, put them at the bottom of the league and take their money off them... it's a criminal act against football fans in this country," he said.
