'There Was A Handball In Build-Up To Liverpool's Opening Goal Against Wolves

There was a handball in the build-up to Sadio Mane's goal to open the scoring for Liverpool at home to Wolves at Anfield.

The goal was initially disallowed after Anthony Taylor deemed Adam Lallana to have handled the ball prior to Mane smashing home past Rui Patricio.

After a long VAR check, the decision was overturned and it seemed to be the correct call. However, it soon emerged that the ball struck the arm of defender Virgil van Dijk seconds before he sent Lallana through with a stunning long pass.

VAR looked at this but the verdict was said to be "inconclusive" - despite the newly introduced rule being that any handball prior to a goal, no matter whether accidental or deliberate, would result in it being chalked off.

The VAR show continued on the stroke of half-time when Pedro Neto's equaliser for Wolves was disallowed after the technology, with the help of the normal dodgy lines, decided that Jonny Otto's hand was offside.
