'Jose Mourinho’s Reaction To His Yellow Card For 'Spying At Southampton’s Tactics' Is Priceless

Jose Mourinho has branded a Southampton coach "an idiot" after he picked up a yellow card for allegedly spying at the opposition's tactics.

Tottenham were condemned to a 1-0 defeat thanks to Danny Ings' first-half strike at St Mary's.

But the Spurs boss grabbed the headlines in the second half after he was caught going to the Southampton bench and taking a peek at a Saints coach's notes.

During his post-match interview, Mourinho admitted that he was "rude" and he "deserved the yellow card."

However, the 56-year-old Portuguese manager pulled no punches towards the Saints coach and said he had "bad words with the guy."

Mourinho told BT Sport: "I was rude. But I was rude with an idiot.

"I clearly deserved the yellow card. I had bad words with the guy."

The 'Special One,' who replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs boss in November 2019, was also furious with the number of injuries that Tanguy Ndombele has picked up this season.

He explained: "Tanguy Ndombele, I don't know. I imagine this is the tenth injury of the season.

"They stop him to play. It doesn't give him continuity. We had three days between matches. Once more, he is out again.

"Harry Kane plays every minute, he plays all the time. It might be big, it might be small. For sure he will be out."

Spurs' defeat has left them six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who were held to Brighton after Alireza Jahanbakhsh scored a sensational equaliser in the second half.

Mourinho claimed that it was a "strange" match against Southampton and he felt the full-time was "too harsh."

The ex-Manchester United boss said: "It was quite a strange game. We had no problems defensively. They didn't create great problems. They scored one goal.

"Danny Ings did well. We were in control apart from that. We didn't create much but enough to score.

"They stopped the game and defended well. The centre-backs gave a hard game to our attacking players, who were aggressive and didn't make mistakes.

"In the last part of the game without Harry Kane and another striker, without Son, we were limited in our options. I feel it is too harsh the result, but it is what it is."
