'Chelsea Starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi Has Tested Positive For Coronavirus

Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has become the latest footballer to test positive for the coronavirus, the club have announced.

The club confirmed in an official statement that the 19-year-old English starlet is now undergoing a "period of self-isolation."

Chelsea added that personnel who have made contact with the player in the men's team building would also self-isolate.

And that means the full men's team squad, coaching staff and several backroom staff are among the several Chelsea personnel now self-isolating.

According to the club, Hudson-Odoi showed symptoms "similar to a mild cold on Monday morning and has not been at the training ground since then as a precaution."

However, the club confirmed that the England international is "doing well and looking forward to returning to the training ground as soon as it is possible."

The news comes only a day after Arsenal announced that club manager Mikel Arteta had tested positive for coronavirus.

And Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers revealed that three of his players were self-isolating after they showed "symptoms and signs" of coronavirus.

Arsenal's away clash with Brighton on Saturday has been postponed after Arteta tested positive for coronavirus.

The Premier League released a statement on Thursday to say that it would hold an emergency meeting over the future of upcoming fixtures.

"In light of Arsenal's announcement tonight confirming that their first-team coach Mikel Arteta has tested positive for COVID-19, the Premier League will convene an emergency club meeting tomorrow morning regarding future fixtures," reads the statement.

"The Premier League will make no further comment until after that meeting."

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that the UK government is considering a ban on sporting fixtures.
