'How Bruno Fernandes Is Showing His Winning Mentality Since Joining Manchester United

Manchester United still have some way to go before they're back challenging for the Premier League title but if they're to get there then Bruno Fernandes winning mentality might well help.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally got his man on January 29th when they signed Fernandes from Sporting, after a whole month of chasing the creative midfielder.

His performances have already proved what a shrewd piece of business they've done with two goals and two assists from his first four league games, but his impact goes beyond that.

A report in the Times on Saturday proves exactly the kind of winning mentality the Portugal midfielder has that will surely improve things at Old Trafford.

After arriving at the Carrington training ground on the day he signed, Fernandes went through medical tests, signed his deal and then did a promotional shoot. He then turned to Solskjaer and asked "Can I train now?" before doing a session.

The rest of the players weren't there when Fernandes did his session but the former Sampdoria player wanted to 'get up to speed' ahead of his debut. He could have chosen to spend the time celebrating his daughter's third birthday.

He continued to impress the next day when his new teammates joined him for training with one source telling the newspaper that the midfielder's desire to be at the heart of everything and demanding the ball from teammates 'gave everyone a lift.'

A staff member said "If he [Fernandes] thinks something is not right, he will tell you so." And his refusal to not do interviews the day before or after games to not 'disrupt his preparation or recovery' has also impressed.

The final thing that has really impressed everyone at the club followed last week's 1-1 draw with Everton, in which his goal earned a point for the Red Devils.

After the match most of the players were happy with the point and believed that it was a good result but the 25-year-old was disappointed with the result and believed the club should be looking to win that kind of game.

With Paul Pogba potentially leaving in the summer, if the rumours are true, then United will need Fernandes' ability to lead even more in the foreseeable future.
