'UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin Explains The Different Options For The End Of The Season

No one knows exactly how the football season will be able to end right now but UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin has laid out the five options.

Football isn't too important right now but with no sport to watch during the Covid-19 enforced lockdown there's no doubt that we're all missing the sport.

When it does finally return no one can be sure whether the season will get a chance to finish, when that would be, or if it'll all just be null and void and even UEFA boss Ceferin couldn't rule out the latter option.

"There is a plan A, B and C," he told Italian newspaper La Repubblica

"The three options are to start again in mid-May, in June or at the end of June.

"There is also the possibility of starting again at the beginning of the next [season], starting the following one later.

"It's hard for me to imagine all the matches behind closed doors, but we still don't know whether we'll resume, with or without spectators.

"If there was no alternative, it would be better to finish the championships. We will see the best solution for leagues and clubs."

The season has paused at a really crucial stage in most leagues. Whilst Liverpool might be flying high in the Premier League, and just two wins from claiming their first title in 30 years, most other leagues aren't as clear cut.

PSG look set to retain Ligue 1 but Juventus are having the toughest fight to win the title in all of their eight year run of winning the league.

Bayern Munich remain under pressure in the Bundesliga whilst Barcelona's poor form makes it very possible that Real Madrid could still pip them to the title.

The Champions League didn't even manage to complete the last 16 before the pause in the football. Whilst half the games were completed, with champions Liverpool and last season's runners up Spurs both going out, the other half are still stuck with just the first legs being played.

Manchester City vs Real Madrid, Juventus vs Lyon, Barcelona vs Napoli and Bayern Munich vs Chelsea were all yet to be decided when football had to be suspended.

So far the Football Association has ruled out any football until the end of April and lifted the June 1st deadline for the end of the season.

UEFA has postponed the Euros until next summer and lifted its own June 30th end of season deadline.
