Chelsea's 'interest in Chilwell grows' as 'PSG win battle for Alex Telles'

Chelsea's interest in Leicester and England full back Ben Chilwell has grown as Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly won the battle for Porto star Alex Telles.

Both Blues left backs Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri were linked to moves away from Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

Boss Frank Lampard was keen on Telles and Chilwell but Ligue 1 giants PSG are the front runners in the race to sign the former, according to Brazilian outlet Gauchazh.

It is no secret that manager Lampard wishes to bolster his defensive options in the summer.

Lampard had alternated between Alonso and Palmieri on the left side of his defence throughout the first half of the campaign.

At times before the indefinite suspension of football due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Blues boss also used captain Cesar Azpilicueta in the left back position.

Chilwell has impressed for Leicester this campaign as they challenge for a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old, who has earned 11 international caps, was expected to be Gareth Southgate's first-choice left back this summer at Euro 2020 before it was postponed due to Covid-19.
