'Australian VAR Is Exactly The Way It Should Be Done In The Premier League

An Australian referee's perfect use of VAR has resurfaced following a controversial weekend of Premier League action.

During an A-League clash last season, Sydney FC defender Rhyan Grant dived in on a Melbourne City player and was booked by the referee.

However, VAR intervened and awarded a red card to the 29-year-old.

Audio of the chat between the officials and fans was then aired and fans think it's a method the Premier League should adopt.

Twitter users commented on the incident and even ten months on, their criticism of VAR in England still stand.

The audio fully breaking down why the card was upgraded offered a fascinating insight into how decisions are made.

It is also easier for fans to understand what's going on rather than being left in limbo for minutes on end.

Saturday saw Liverpool and Everton play out a 2-2 draw in the season's first Merseyside derby, but the biggest talking point coming out of the game was VAR.

Jordan Pickford's crunching challenge on Virgil van Dijk saw the Liverpool man hobble off, but VAR incorrectly believed Pickford couldn't be sent off.

The Reds were then left outraged when Jordan Henderson's last-gasp winner was ruled out due to Sadio Mane being offside.
