Manchester United have deleted a tweet about their Premier League fixture against Newcastle United after it was furiously slammed by Gary Neville and fans.
The Red Devils appeared to make a joke about the lack of supporters in stadiums ahead of tonight's league meeting at St James' Park.
Fans have not been allowed to attend games in England due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On Saturday morning, United tweeted: "At least there's no climbing up 14 flights of stairs to get to the away end at St James' Park for this one... where are you watching #NEWMUN from?"
The post, accompanied with a laughing face emoji, didn't go down too well with fans online, including former club captain Neville.
On Twitter, he wrote: "How bad is this tweet?"

Andy Mitten also reacted angrily to United's tweet.
"The hardcore reds who'd be there today would give anything to climb those steps. Instead they face an unacceptable £15 for PPV...and being patronised in a sponsored tweet pretending to understand fan culture," he wrote.

Other United supporters also took offence to their club's now-deleted post.
Haha they've deleted the tweet now! Rather climb 14 flights of stairs than pay £15 PPV @ManUtd https://t.co/gGUq699cPU

So today if we were in normal circumstances would have quite happily climbed those 14 flights of steps and paid the £30 match ticket but instead made to pay £15 to watch @ManUtd from home it’s disgusting and quite frankly no loyalty for being a season ticket holder for years pic.twitter.com/G7QuMuidEw

United have endured a miserable start to the new season having lost their two of their three league matches.
They suffered a 3-1 defeat to Crystal Palace before picking up three points against Brighton.
And, in their most recent league outing before the international break, they lost 6-1 at home to Tottenham.
