Everton forward Richarlison has annoyed and angered Liverpool fans after a deleted tweet ruined all the sincerity of his apology to Thiago Alcantara.
Richarlison was sent off late in the Merseyside derby for a horrible challenge on Liverpool midfielder Thiago, that could have easily led to a serious injury for the Spaniard.
The Toffees forward took to social media to apologise for the challenge after the game, also saying he'd done so privately to his opponent. In the apology the Brazilian claimed he'd "picked up my foot and hit him with my knee in the pass, which was inevitable due to the speed of the play."
However a Brazilian account tweeted the line next to a picture of the incident that showed the former Watford forward clearly making contact with his studs up.

Richarlison replied with his own picture showing the two men colliding with his knee going into Thiago, clearly at the end of the challenge.
But the 23-year-old quickly deleted the tweet after backlash from fans who said that him hitting out at anyone suggesting he was in the wrong clearly showed a lack of sincerity in his apology.
I didn't believe Richarlison apology for a second. He posted and deleted this earlier. It was a fake and hollow apology. pic.twitter.com/ZtxrUGGv4b

So after posting an “apology”, he posts this as if it in any way exonerates his awful tackle?! pic.twitter.com/1lppBcXuXK

Of course Richarlison has deleted the tweet, the cowardly cunt

also that was a pathetic excuse of an apology from Richarlison, you know he doesn’t mean it, especially given that alleged deleted tweet. disrespectful, unsportsmanlike shithouse.

It was a controversial afternoon on Merseyside, in what was a thoroughly entertaining game, with Liverpool on the wrong end of the refereeing decisions.
In the first half, with the Premier League champions leading 1-0, Jordan Pickford took out Virgil van Dijk with an appalling challenge in the box but an offside saved him from any punishment.
There were conflicting reports about whether or not VAR even checked the foul but it could reportedly keep the Dutchman out for the rest of the season.
Everton then twice came back from behind to make it 2-2, before Richarlison's sending off. There was more controversy when Jordan Henderson thought he'd won the game late on but Sadio Mane was adjudged to be offside by the barest of margins, with Pickford again saved after his poor attempt to stop Henderson's shot had failed.
