Douglas Luiz is fuming about the penalty given against him for a trip on Paul Pogba in Manchester United's 2-1 win over Aston Villa, saying he "can't believe" the decision.
The Premier League game was poised at 1-1 when Pogba and Brazil international Douglas Luiz tangled legs in the box. Referee Michael Oliver blew for a penalty and Bruno Fernandes did what he does from the spot to give United three points.
But a furious Douglas Luiz shared a video of the incident after the game on Twitter, saying he can't believe VAR didn't intervene - echoing his manager Dean Smith's post-game thoughts that Pogba had tripped himself.

"I see this video, I can't believe it was a penalty, I always support fairer football, with fewer mistakes, but then I stop and see these types of moves," said the 22-year-old.
"If we have VAR to help, LET'S start using it CORRECTLY, these mistakes can define the future of clubs!"
Douglas Luiz then replied to his own tweet with a close-up of the coming together, adding: "This is just to show more clearly!"

There's certainly an argument that Pogba catches his own trailing leg, tripping himself and causing the referee to point to the spot. Though it is tricky to say precisely when they are so close together.
"I thought it was a penalty at the time, but I looked at it after the game and saw he tripped himself," said Smith post-match.
"I don't see why Michael Oliver couldn't have looked at it. That's what VAR is for isn't it? He's tripped himself up. There's margins in football. I've seen it again and I don't think it's a penalty.

Thanks more evidence of cheating, luiz leg is clearly in his normal natural position. Why is Pogbas leg shifted over ONTO luiz???

Never, ever a penalty. VAR a shambles.

This is a penalty all day ffs. Why is this even a debate? It’s so clumsy 😂😂

Douglas Luiz also retweeted a video which supposedly showed Pogba instructing Luke Shaw to dive in the second half of the game. So clearly he is not happy about the match at all.
Manchester United joined champions Liverpool on 33 points, sitting second in the Premier League table on goal difference with both sides having played 16 games.
Villa, who narrowly escaped relegation last season, are in an impressive sixth spot having played 15 games. But Douglas Luiz, Smith - and several others - clearly feel they deserved more at Old Trafford on Friday night.
