'Highlights Show Why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Is ‘Very Excited’ About Manchester United’s £37m Signing

A highlights video shows why the hype around wonderkid Amad Diallo, who joins Manchester United from Atalanta this month, is entirely deserved.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said he's "very excited" to welcome the dynamic, 18-year-old winger to Old Trafford.

A transfer was arranged in October with the Serie A club for an initial £19 million - rising to £37 million - and that could prove terrific business if Diallo can fulfil his potential. As this compilation shows.

Speaking as the January transfer window is set to open, the Manchester United boss revealed his excitement in welcoming the teenager to his squad.

"We have had all the paperwork, I can't see any obstacles. He's coming," said Solskjaer per The Mirror.

"I hope very soon he will be with us. I'm very excited about bringing him in. I think he's shown a few times his qualities.

"Of course he has to learn to play in England, that's a different level of football. We'll give him time to develop and to express himself."

The Ivory Coast-born prospect has only played a handful of Serie A matches for Atalanta, but did make Champions League debut in December, coming off the bench against Midtjylland. He's versatile, able to play different positions, and highly skilled.

Atalanta captain Papu Gomez paid him the highest compliment, saying: "He's a future star, trust me.

"During our training, he seems like [Lionel] Messi! You can't stop him."

Steady on, Papu. Though the highlights package does show his remarkable close control, pace, ability to beat opponents with the ball at his feet and attacking instincts.

Assuming the work permit goes through fine, which Solskjaer is confident about, then Diallo is joining Manchester United at a fantastic time.

Despite a sticky start to the season and a group-stage exit from the Champions League, the club have found their form in the Premier League.

A hard-fought 2-1 win over Aston Villa to kick off 2021 put United level on points with league leaders Liverpool. Both clubs are on 33 points after 16 games played.

"We've just got to keep working and improving as a team," said Solskjaer afterwards. "Every time you win a game you take one step further. You've just got to accumulate the points. They all count the same."
