Injury Update On Pirates’ Lorch

The Siya crew has learnt that the injury of Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch is not as severe as initially thought.

The Bucs star was taken off after 28 minutes of Wednesday’s DStv Premiership match against SuperSport United after picking up what looked like a bad injury.

The Buccaneers were leading 1-0 at the time through an early goal from Vincent Pule, and after the match, head coach Josef Zinnbauer rued Lorch’s injury as one of the reasons his side failed to collect maximum points.

Following his previous injury earlier in the season which kept him out for over five weeks after limping off against Bloemfontein Celtic in November, it had been feared that the 27-year-old could again spend weeks on the sidelines due to his latest injury.

However, indications are that the attacker’s latest injury is not as serious and that he could soon be back to continue where he left off. Zinnbauer’s team is competing in different competitions, including the CAF Confederation Cup group stages, where the Bucs have been drawn in a group with Enyimba, ES Setif and Ahli Benghazi.

Meanwhile, Pirates have had the likes of Tshegofatso Mabasa and Abel Mabaso out injured for some time, while Gabadinho Mhango is one of the stars who has been in and out of the squad, owing to injuries.
