'Phil Foden 'Left Furious' After His Own Twitter Account Posts Image Calling Out Kylian Mbappe Without His Permission

Phil Foden was said to be 'furious' after the company who manage his social media account appeared to call out Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe following Manchester City's emphatic win against Borussia Dortmund.

The England international was once again in fine form on Wednesday night, finding himself on the scoresheet in a 2-1 win against the Bundesliga side as The Citizens secured a place in the Champions League semi-final for the first time since 2015/16.

It was an all-round impressive performance from the Premier League leaders, with Foden leading the way with another outstanding performance. But reports suggest the 20-year-old midfielder was far from impressed after the final-whistle.

In a social media post on his official Twitter account, Foden tagged Kylian Mbappe's account before saying: "Are you ready" - a caption that received thousands of retweets and likes in a short space of time, although it appears he and his representatives weren't happy with the tone of the tweet.

The post was eventually deleted before Manchester City correspondent Sam Lee cleared up the incident.

"Foden didn't post that Mbappe tweet himself, it was done by the company that manage his account." Lee wrote on Twitter following City's win against Borussia Dortmund. "People close to Foden not particularly happy about it and it's been deleted."

Foden's representatives will now hold talks with the company, with The Daily Mail suggesting they 'could well look to end' their relationship.

Many have reacted to the incident, including Gary Neville, who has previously voiced his opinion on companies running players' social media accounts.

"I mentioned on here a few weeks ago about players having their accounts run by social media companies." he wrote. "Lads run your own accounts! Your independent thought and authenticity is at stake. It's your voice, not anyone else's. Morning by the way. Go and attack the hell out of it."

Away from the Twitter incident and an in-form Manchester City side secured a place in the semi-final's of the Champions League after impressing against Dortmund throughout the two-legged tie.

On the night, goals from Riyad Mahrez and that man Phil Foden sealed the win, with a tricky clash against Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain incoming.

Pep Guardiola was understandably delighted with the result as he prepares to challenge for a number of trophies.

"It feels incredible," Guardiola told BT Sport. "This is the second time we have got to the semi-finals, so there is not much history for our club here, but we will start to build it.

"Semi-final, Champions League. For the second time in our history we are there with the real elite of Europe. Now, I don't want to think for one second about PSG. I want to celebrate.

"Dinner with the staff and the team. I don't know which wine, it will be with wine for sure."

He continued, saying: "It is a good moment for all of us, especially the players. We cannot forget, in the five years we are together, we have gone out of the Champions League four times.

"The players suffer the same as the backroom staff and all the people working in the club. They are huge competitors, and they want to make the next step - and they did."
