'Manchester United Reportedly Set To Vote Against Cancelling The Current Premier League Season

By Mike Parrott

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are set to vote against the cancellation of the current Premier League Season which in turn could end Liverpool's Premier League title drought.

With the Premier League currently postponed with nine matchweeks remaining, the Premier League are set for talks on Thursday regarding the future of the current Season.

One of the scenarios on the table will be to play the current campaign to completion once the COVID-19 has subsided. A boardroom source at one club expects Premier League chairmen and chief executives to opt for the plan that suits their own agenda.

According to the Mirror, Manchester United are set to vote against cancelling the Season, and only to postpone the Season. This means that Liverpool will still most likely go on to win the Premier League, much to the dismay of Manchester United fans alike.

However, the reasons could be completely selfish too.

United are currently fifth in the Premier League, only three points behind fourth place Chelsea. However, after missing out on the UEFA Champions League last Season, if United miss out on the Champions League for consecutive years, their current Adidas kit sponsorship is slashed quite dramatically by 30%.

This comes after recent comments from West Ham United Vice-Chairman, Karren Brady believes the Premier League Season should be cancelled. This was seen by the many as a way to save her current team with West Ham currently placed 16th in the table, and tied on points with 18th placed Bournemouth who sit in the relegation zone.

It will be no surprise if the majority of teams vote in their own interest, however, even though United's decision seems selfish, it won't stop people thinking that in some way, they will be helping Liverpool win their first ever Premier League title.
